Why Monday was Jordan's best Day EVER! (and one of my worst parenting moments... ever)

Jordan's new camouflage pants and shirt that he plans to wear for Halloween came in the mail on Monday. He's going to wear his Dad's old hat from when he was in the military and be a soldier. He is totally pumped for Halloween. And he got to go to Wal-Mart with me, his Mom, with no other children along. (the baby came to, but he doesn't talk yet, so Jordan said he didn't count). We went to buy him a "prop" gun for his Halloween costume. He told me he wanted a machine gun, an MP40 to be exact (which I'm pretty sure is made up.. perhaps his version of an M16?), but I am not big on guns in the first place and didn't want him to have anything that even remotely resembled a real gun... but, he can't be a soldier without a gun... "what kind of an army would that be, Mom?!!" so we settled for a blue and yellow Nerf gun that shoots little darts. Safe, happy, squishy darts. Perhaps not as dangerous as an MP40, but according to Jordan, "it'll get the job done."

To top off it all off, while eating an apple, Jordan discovered that he had a loose tooth. I think he might have broken all records by wiggling his tooth so many times, that in just a few hours, it came out all together. What a milestone for Jordan... his first tooth lost! We were excited because it means he is growing up... I think he just had dollar signs in his eyes.

Which leads me to my worst parenting moment ever... we live in the world of the check card, right? We NEVER carry cash... and it's not like he had a loose tooth for several days, giving us warning enough to prepare for the tooth fairy visit. He went from a mouthful of secure and happy baby teeth to having a tooth in the palm of his hand in one afternoon! So it's 10 PM, the tooth is now securely under Jordan's pillow, (complete with a note to the tooth fairy apologizing that his tooth was still bloody... he promised to clean it for her next time) and the only cash in the entire house is in Jordan's Coca-Cola money jar. He's saving money... for his mission. I'll let you use your astounding powers of deduction to determine what we did next. (I promise we WILL pay him back!) Yeah. Worst parenting moment.... EVER!

Here's Jordan... he was so stinkin excited. It was so cute.
