So, my ten year high school reunion is coming up. I was pretty sure I wasn't going to go. And then a dear friend threatened to drag me there by my ankles, willing or unwilling. So maybe I am going. I have mixed feelings about it. The world of facebook has made it possible to "see" how everyone is doing with very little effort. Can we not just consider facebook a reunion and call it good?
Okay. Maybe there are a few old friends I would love to see in person. A few. And since one of my very best friends from high school is planning the thing, I guess I really should be there. So it will be ME pulling my HUSBAND along by his ankles, cause well, I can't go back to a reunion without my hot husband, right? I don't know why HE isn't excited about going. He has no idea how lucky he is for the opportunity to be blinded by the sheer awesomeness that is the class of 1999. (ten points if you know the movie quote)
The location selected for our reunion has a pool, so the question was asked whether or not the pool would be available for use when we are there. The answer most gratefully, was NO. Can I tell you how disappointed I was that I won't have the opportunity to put my stretched out, squishy post baby (x4) body in a swimsuit so that I can flit and flitter all over the pool with friends from bygone years? I mean really, that just sounded like SO MUCH FUN!
Hopefully I'll have a camera come reunion time, so I can take and then post all sorts of embarrassing photos of my friends. I have a friend who's offered me a Kodak Easyshare for $50 to hold me over till I can save up for the Nikon D5000. Which is what I want. With an all consuming purple passion. I can't tell you the number of moments of cuteness that have passed totally undocumented the past few months. It's a travesty, really. If you could SEE how adorable Henry is with his new haircut, YOU would want to buy me a new camera just so the world (because you know... the entire world reads my blog) could enjoy his adorableness like I do.
Okay. Perhaps my sarcasm is a bit out of control.
And now, because I have spiraled downward into a realm of totally boring and unacceptable blogging, I'll stop. But first... a completely unrelated, yet very important question: Do you watch Paz, on Discovery Kids? Paz is a little penguin, who lives with a Penguin that by all accounts, appears to be his mother. Except Paz doesn't call her Mom. He calls her "Big Penguin." All the time. There is also a male penguin that shows up every once in a while. Paz calls him Pappy. Is he grandpa? Dad that just shows up now and again? It's annoying. Is our society trying so desperately to veer from the norm of Mom/Dad/child family life that Mother's are stripped of their title and simply referred to as "big"? Maybe "Big Penguin" isn't Paz's mother after all. Maybe his mother is out living the high life with Max and Ruby's parents and Big Penguin is just a big sister annoyingly left behind to babysit. Or maybe, all the responsible adults were sucked into Yo Gabba Gabba land, and kids all over cartoondom are fending for themselves. Whatever it is, I don't get it. Maybe I'll call up my "big human" and ask her what she thinks.
I swear I had a point before all that nonsense. Oh, right...
Did you go to your ten year high school reunion? Was it worth the effort? The cost of your babysitter? Should I go to mine?
