When My Kids are Grown, I’m Burning my Couch

Seriously. It’s been through far too much. Kids have been sick this week.

It started with this:

Then Sam got better, and Henry got sick:

Then, by this morning, my poor couch had doubled it’s burden, and now we are dealing with this (much to her disappointment, notice there isn’t any room for the dog):

Lucy hasn’t been sick... Wait, that isn’t entirely true. She was sick while we were camping last week, (ALL over the inside of the tent, herself, and her twin brother. What? Too much information?) but we just contributed it to too much root beer and too many marshmallows. With three more sick kids following in her footsteps, I’m thinking it might have been a virus after all.

So, I’m going nowhere, and staying very busy averting my eyes from the laundry that is slowly taking over my kitchen. Did you notice? In that last picture? Go back and look closely. See it? On my kitchen table? Laundry unfolded, people. And the table is just overflow. There are four more baskets on the floor beside the table. I’m thinking all in all, it’s close to eight or nine loads waiting to be folded. Three more loads of sheets and towels, and a load of whites are waiting in the queue to be washed, and one more set of sheets is waiting on the back deck where I fully intend to spray it down with the garden hose before I even think of bringing it near my washing machine. Suffice it to say Henry did NOT have a pretty silver bowl in his bed when we first discovered he was sick.

So I haven’t blogged in what feels like weeks and here I am talking about barf and laundry. SO sorry. I think I owe you more than that. And I truly I have so much more to say, so much I want to share about camping with cousins and running in the rain and triathlons and doing hard things, and recognizing God’s presence in your life. But for now, my babies need me, so this is all you get. Don’t give up on me though and hang around for the good stuff, would you?
