This weekend I'm presenting a workshop to the most honorable young women of my church, ages 12-18 from my own tiny congregation, and 11 surrounding units. I will discuss with them the importance of honoring their Heavenly Father, making good choices, following the example of the Savior in all they do...
And I will do it dressed like a tavern maid.
From the 16th century.
I'm not good with costumes. Halloween is not easy for me... I love to dress my kids up. They're adorable... it's fun. But I'm not good at it. I'm self conscious and uncomfortable and sure that I look completely ridiculous. All in all it's pretty funny that I'm so sensitive, because I often do a remarkable job at making myself seem ridiculous when I'm NOT in costume, and it apparently doesn't bother me much. But costumes... I'm not good with costumes.
I thought about ending the post right there, letting you all wonder why on earth I plan on giving a workshop for young women dressed as a tavern wench.
What? You mean it isn't regular youth conference attire?
Okay, okay.
It's a Renaissance Fair... and I, the humble servant that gets to teach the young women how to be true princesses. Unless they laugh at me. Then I'll just tell them to go kiss a toad.
I'll let you know how it goes.
