Not a real movie. Sheesh. I'm not hollywood or nothin... But, today, while I was elbow deep in my toilet, I totally felt like I was a star in a movie.
What? Don't you feel all glamorous when you're scrubbing out the inside of YOUR toilet? Here's how it went down. I was scrubbing out the little tiny hard water line right where the water settles in the bowl. I have no tolerance for that little line. And really, a toilet that has only been in use for four months has little excuse when it comes to stubborn stains that can't be scrubbed out. So I scrubbed. I had music playing, because I always have music playing when I'm cleaning... and a song called Beyond, by William Joseph came on. When songs come on with lyrics, I don't feel like a movie star. Because I'm normally singing along... my voice a constant reminder that there ain't nothing goin down but lil' ol' me, dancing around my bathroom. But Beyond does not have words... it's a brooding, dramatic song that instantly makes me feel like I am listening to my own soundtrack every time it comes on.
So, the song started, and suddenly I was in a movie, a lonely housewife scrubbing the inside of the toilet with my own tears waiting for my night with shining toilet brush to show up and save the day... when he arrived, I would wrap my cashmere shawl around my wonder tee and wal-mart yoga pants, leaving the toilet to Mr. Clean as I moved on to more important pursuits...
I don't know what the more important pursuits are. Cause the song ended, and I can only create magnificent screen plays when inspired by magnificent music... who knows where I'll be next time the song comes on...
driving down the road, to a far off beach house to meet my twin sister, seperated from me at birth, when she was stolen by pirates...
on the phone with my next door neighbor, learning that she needs a double kidney transplant and will require both of mine... and one of my legs.
Okay. Perhaps I don't really belong in the movie business. Seriously though. Listen to this song, and tell me if it doesn't sound like IT belongs in one...
